A GOOD .177 WEBLEY & SCOTT MK3 'TARGET' AIR-RIFLE, serial no. 17438,
circa 1958, with 18 1/2in. blued round tapering barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight without provision for protector (almost certainly a Parker Hale item), factory blanked-off dove-tail at breech, rounded loading tap, plain air-chamber without provision for telescopic sight and with make and model details, knurled trigger unit housing factory fitted with a Parker Hale 'PH16M' adjustable diopter rear-sight, semi saw-handled half-stock with factory-cut grooved heel and 16-groove fore-end, heavily curved trigger with early style guard and push-button under-lever, the whole retaining virtually all its factory blued finish
Provenance: Webley MKIII air rifles in this configuration are generally accepted by collectors to be the fore-runners of the 'Supertarget' model and were produced on order by Webley until the release of the dedicated model
